About Fusion Bilingual eBooks
If you are an intermediate student of Spanish, the easiest and most enjoyable
way to improve your Spanish is with Fusion bilingual eBooks and the Fusion eBook
Reader.
Traditional language learning software is good for beginners, but once you have achieved a certain level
of proficiency they don't have much to offer. For the intermediate student of Spanish, reading
Spanish is key to continued improvement. If you are not fully fluent in Spanish, reading it
can be frustrating. Frequent word looks-ups in a dictionary may be necessary. Even if you know the
meaning of every word in a sentence, the sentence as a whole may be hard to understand.
With Fusion eBooks and the Fusion eBook Reader these impediments are eliminated. Fusion Reader displays
the two versions of the text side-by-side and highlights each sentence as you
progress through the text. In addition, the translation of most words in the text can be accessed simply by
hovering the mouse over the word. With these features, you will be able to read a book in Spanish that
would be too tedious to read on paper or as a normal e-book. After reading the first few chapters of a
Fusion eBook, you will cease to think of it as a tool for learning Spanish, and will instead just think
of it as an enjoyable book. And, by the end of the book, you will have significantly increased your
command of Spanish.
Speech
If you already know how to pronounce words in Spanish based on their spelling, then Fusion Reader is all
you need to get the most out of Fusion eBooks. If not, you should consider speech enabling your computer
with a SAPI 5.0 speech engine. When your computer is speech enabled, Fusion Reader can speak (pronounce) the text of
Fusion eBooks. On a speech enabled computer clicking the "Speak" button in Fusion Reader will cause Fusion Reader to speak
the text of the current sentence, highlighting each word as it does so. You can also select any
displayed word, phrase, or paragraph for Fusion Reader to speak. If you run across a particularly
difficult phrase just select the phrase and click the "Speak" button as many times as you need to in
order to listen to and master the pronunciation.

When in Stacked Mode you also have the option of viewing the full text in both panes (like in Side by Side mode) or not showing any text at all in the bottom pane. The latter is useful if you want to first attempt to comprehend the text unassisted, and then make the translation appear to check your comprehension.
